Our Company
Interferomet Ltd, founded in 2000, specialises in the design and development of high precision Jamin interferometers
for the measurement of length, angle, vibration, gas and liquid refractivity.
The basis for the company's products is the AIMS™ (Adaptive Interferometric Metrology System) Jamin Interferometer, for which
Interferomet has won three DTI SMART Awards for Innovation.

AIMS™
AIMS™ Jamin Interferometers are an innovative development of a common-path optical configuration providing
ease of alignment and ease of use even in hostile environments.
The system has been further refined with the development of a modulator unit, incorporating a
PZT device, to provide electronic control of the optical path length in the Jamin interferometer
by controlling the spacing between the measuring and reference retro-reflectors.
In 'Servo' mode, the system can measure displacements of the order of 10 nm in amplitude, varying at a
rate of 100Hz or more, with sub nano-metric accuracy. This makes it ideally suited for non-contacting,
non-destructive displacement measurement for MEMS materials and devices.

Accuracy
Typical accuracies obtainable from these outstanding instruments are:
• Length: ±1 nm over 25 mm or 1,000 mm, DC Coupled
• Length: ±1 pm over 10nm, AC Coupled
• Vibration: ±1 nm over 25 mm
• Angle: ±0.01 arc seconds over 40 arc minutes
• Gas refractivity: 2 x 10-8 over unlimited range
• Liquid refractivity: 1 x 10-6 over unlimited range
